Once again the International Gem and Jewelry show is coming to Seattle! I dont know about you but I look forward to this one every year. This year there are over 85 Exhibitors attending and there will be free beading workshops (with purchase of a materials kit) all weekend too. August 24-26,2012 at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall. SHOW HOURS: Friday 12:00 pm-6:00 pm Saturday 10:00 am-6:00 pm Sunday 11:00 am-5:00 pm.
I love the fact that they offer all active duty military and veterans with current military ID and their immediate families FREE Admission! For the rest of us its only $8.00 for all three days. Want it even cheaper? Go to www.TicketDerby.com and get advance tickets at only $6.00! Keep in mind that Children 8 years and younger are NOT PERMITED.
I am a fan of these shows. I pick up all sorts of items for my creations and sometimes even a piece of jewelry all ready completed. Then, here at Seattle Findings I can get everything else I need to make my vision into reality.
Seattle Findings new Sterling Silver heads will go perfectly with some items I expect to get. I will pick up polishing cloths and boxes. The "Easy Out" Organizer is also really handy to sort and store items I have.
Here are a few tips from a long time show attendee to help make the Gem show even more fun for you. Bring lots of cash with you, last show some of the vendors were having issues with their credit card machines due to the lack of a signal. Also the concession stand there leaves a lot to be desired, and that is saying it nicely. Bring some water and plan to snack elsewhere. Catch a bus or go early for street parking. You can also park in the Mercer Garage. The entrance is on 3rd AVE between Mercer and Roy. Wear comfortable shoes as you'll be walking a ways from your parking space to the venue. Not to mention it is a bigger event than you might imagine. Allow yourself plenty of time to browse and shop. Bring your bargaining skills with you and be a knowledgeable consumer. I have seen venders who had no idea what some of the stones were that they were offering for sale. It is also a good idea to take samples of items with you to help you match colors or sizes. And like most events, on the last day, sellers are willing to haggle more and discounts are usually better.
