Burs & Drill Bits
We have a wide selection of burs, diamond
points and drill bits for working on your jewelry pieces. These burs and bits are
used with a flex shaft or other rotary tool
for setting, drilling, carving, adding texture, deburring, cutting, scoring, and
more. The burs we carry are all
precision cut from high quality tungsten vanadium, the diamond points are
imbued with diamond particles, and the drill bits are made of tungsten carbide.
We carry a huge variety of Fox Germany and Swiss made Dentsply Maillefer burs in many shapes and millimeter sizes.
We have round and ball burs in a
wide range of sizes to accommodate your needs. Ball burs can be used for
expanding or deburring drilled holes, faux carving, cutting a curved surface,
setting, refining bezels and seats and more. Because of their shape they can be
used at any angle and get into tight spaces.
Bud burs are flame shaped, having
a slightly curved taper that comes to a point. They can be used to taper, enlarge,
and change the position of holes. Because of its tapered head, it can be used
in small spaces, used as a mini-file, scalloping tool, and perform a variety of
stone setting tasks.
We
offer both cone and inverted cone burs. Cone burs have a straight taper that
comes to a point. They can be used to clean up drilled holes and to taper,
enlarge and reposition them. Inverted cone burs
are shaped like an upside-down cone making it great for undercuts, channel
setting, inlays, texturing and cutting tapered slots. Their wide diameter
and flat top allow them to get into tight areas and remove excess solder. Other
cone burs we sell are high speed plain square and high-speed square cross-cut
burs.
Cup burs have cup shaped heads.
They are used to round the ends of wires, refine the shape of prong tips,
create domes and more.
Cylinder burs have straight sides
making it great to use as a rotary file, to remove large amounts of material, and
grind the inside of a ring shaft. It is well suited for rough shaping and
finishing.
Setting burs have a pointed tip
and straight sides making them perfect for cutting a seat in prong, bezel and
tube settings. They are often used to rough out settings that are later refined
by a hart bur.
We carry 90 degree highspeed hart
burs and 90 degree bearing burs. These burs come in various sizes and are most
commonly used for stone setting. Their shape makes for easy cutting of seats in
prong, channel and flush settings.
Knife burs are disk shaped with
sharp edges. Because of their sharp knife-like shape, they are great for
cutting flutes and grinding in tight areas. They can also be used for scoring
and removing excess material.
Krause burs are very narrow making
them great to get into tight places. These burs can be used to enlarge and change
the of position holes, remove solder overflow, finetune work and more.
Wheel
burs are disk shaped with a low profile and cutting flutes on the top and edge.
Their narrow edge means they can produce precise lines if required, as well as
grinding and shaping. These burs are well suited for removing excess material
in bezel settings.
We have bur sets from Fox Germany
in three options: small ball burs, large ball burs, and setting burs. Each set
contains a variety of sizes to give you many options to work with. We also
carry a set of wax burs with a range of sizes in each pack that feature coarse

size and drill bits in multipacks that contain a variety of sizes.

Pro-Cut and bees wax. These lubricants provide
a smooth glide to reduce heat build-up and friction and speed the cut.

collets to hold drill bits and pin vises that can be used to hold drill bits,
burs, files, or other small tools to be worked by hand.
